Mission Health Partners with Troy Medicare to Serve Western North Carolina Seniors

Provider Network January 12, 2022

CHARLOTTE, NC — Troy Medicare and Mission Health today announced a partnership that brings Mission Health's facilities and providers into Troy Medicare's in-network coverage, significantly expanding access for Medicare Advantage members in western North Carolina.

The partnership enables Troy Medicare members to receive in-network care at Mission Hospital in Asheville — the region's largest and most comprehensive medical center — as well as Mission Health's network of physicians and specialists across the mountain counties. Members can search the provider directory to confirm in-network coverage for specific providers.

"We are excited to partner with Mission Health to reduce the burden of denials and prior authorizations that plague providers today," said Flaviu Simihaian, CEO of Troy Medicare. "Healthcare is hyperlocal, and our role as a Medicare Advantage plan is to empower providers in each local community in North Carolina by making it easier for them to tailor the best care for each member without restrictions."

Healthcare Challenges in Western North Carolina

The partnership is part of Troy Medicare's ongoing strategy to build a provider network across North Carolina that gives seniors access to the health systems they trust — particularly in rural and semi-rural markets where healthcare options are limited. Western North Carolina presents unique healthcare challenges. The region's mountain geography, aging population, and limited provider density mean that access to a major health system like Mission Health can be the difference between timely care and a multi-hour drive.

Preserving Continuity of Care

For many seniors in Buncombe, Haywood, Henderson, and surrounding mountain counties, Mission Hospital has been their healthcare home for decades. They know their doctors, they trust the nursing staff, and they feel comfortable navigating the facility. Troy Medicare's decision to bring Mission Health into its network preserves that continuity of care — ensuring that members do not have to choose between their trusted providers and the benefits of a Medicare Advantage plan.

Reducing Administrative Friction

The partnership also supports Troy Medicare's commitment to reducing administrative friction for providers. Troy Medicare works directly with health system partners to streamline prior authorization processes, simplify claims submission, and ensure that reimbursement is timely and transparent. For Mission Health's physicians and staff, this means spending less time on paperwork and more time with patients. Comprehensive Coverage Across Settings

In addition to hospital and specialist services, the partnership encompasses outpatient facilities, imaging centers, and rehabilitation services within the Mission Health network. This breadth of coverage is particularly important for seniors managing chronic conditions who may require frequent visits to multiple types of providers. With Mission Health in-network, Troy Medicare members can receive coordinated care across settings without worrying about unexpected out-of-network charges. Members can review their plan documents for details on covered services and coverage rights.

Troy Medicare currently serves members across Buncombe, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Swain, Transylvania, and Yancey counties — all within Mission Health's service area. The partnership ensures those members can access comprehensive hospital, specialty, and emergency services without leaving their communities.

A Model for Collaborative Care

Looking ahead, Troy Medicare sees the Mission Health partnership as a model for how Medicare Advantage plans can work collaboratively with regional health systems to improve access and outcomes in underserved areas. By aligning incentives, sharing data, and maintaining open communication, both organizations aim to deliver a care experience that puts the needs of western North Carolina seniors first. Troy Medicare upholds strict compliance standards in all of its provider partnerships. For questions, contact Troy Medicare.
